Alexandria Covenant Church Travels

A Traditional Indian Sunday

Jacob Tiegen and Benjamin Kakac

Today, June 16th, the team awoke from a great night of sleep at the hotel and had a great cereal breakfast. They hung out around the hotel until about 12:00, when the team drove off to attend a church service at Tipi Wakan. The congregation sang a few hymns and listened to a great sermon by Pete. After a quick delicious sandwich lunch back at the hotel, the team got to help out another group’s Sunday event, with a story, a coloring sheet, and a meal for the children.

The main event of the day was the Pow-wow. Located in Porcupine, North Dakota, the team watched and listened to almost three hours of traditional drum and vocal songs. Many got an “Indian Taco” for supper, which is a taco with fry bread instead of a shell or tortilla. They were very delicious! After making some great memories and sharing a few laughs, the team left for the hotel, ready to get a good night’s sleep in preparation for the VBS starting tomorrow.

PS (Brian):  Our very tired crew from Alaska arrived safe at the hotel about 9:00 pm tonight. They headed straight to bed.   It's good to have our whole team together!
